We’re conscious of the need to ensure sustainability and to protect animals and the environment, and we’re taking responsibility by running our business in accordance with these ideals. Quality is the be all and end all for us, which is why we use meat from our own organically raised cattle.

Locally sourced products also play an important part in the way we run the hotel.

The Großwildalm in Großarl

In the Grossarltal valley – known as the Valley of Alpine Pastures – lies the Grosswildalm, a summer pasture that is around 200 years old. The Alpine hut, renovated in 1993, is easily accessible via a path through the woods and provides a perfect base for other hiking destinations such as the Karseggalm, the Unterwandalm and the Saukaralm. The Grosswildalm lies at 1,778 metres above sea level, and the walk there takes about one and a half hours. During the summer months, the Alpine dairy farmers provide hungry walkers with home-made specialities including fresh butter and local cheeses.

The Grossarltal area offers such a wide choice of Alpine huts set in the summer pastures that it can be difficult to decide which to visit next! Usually there are about 40 different huts open to provide refreshment to hikers from mid-June to mid-September. The Grosswildalm near the Rattersberghof is always an ideal destination for your walk.
