We invite you to discover one of the most naturally diverse holiday destinations in the whole of Austria. Here in the Grossarltal valley, at the heart of the state of Salzburg, new vistas of possibilities open up. All year round there is plenty to enjoy for walkers, culture fans, those who like to get active, and guests looking to relax and recharge.
The beauty of the Salzburg region
The five traditional districts of Flachgau, Tennengau, Pinzgau, Pongau and Lungau cover and area of over 7,000 square kilometres.
Green Alpine pastures, surrounded by picturesque mountains and crystal-clear lakes, provide the perfect geographic backdrop for a getaway in the great outdoors. In winter, it’s all about downhill and cross-country skiing, tobogganing, and snowboarding, while in summer beautiful hiking routes wait to be explored.
It might be a walking tour in the Pongauer Grasberge range, or an Alpine via ferrata ascent in the Hohe Tauern National Park – there are so many ways to enjoy the stunning mountain landscape of the Alps. Stop for refreshments at one of the many Alpine huts by the pastures, and be treated to the hospitality of the mountain innkeepers.
The area is also a fantastic destination for mountain bikers, with over 2,000 kilometres of marked bike routes. Drawn to the water? Rafting, canyoning and kayak tours open up completely new perspectives on the natural landscape.
And Salzburg, the city of Mozart, isn’t far away either. Discover musical high culture at the Salzburg Festival, the romantic streets of the old town, or the charm of the coffee houses.
